| THALASSOTHERAPIA, Opatija, an health institution specialising
in the medical rehabilitation of cardio-pulmonary conditions and
rheumatism, was founded in 1957 at the initiative of Dr Cedomil
Plavsic. This was the first healthcare establishment in the
whole of this country to introduce the expert and up-to-date rehabilitation
of cardiac patients. It was also one of the first institutions in
this part of Europe where rehabilitation was and is carried out
on new, scientifically based principles. This was the end of the
old passive approach to the rehabilitation of people with heart
conditions. Now began a new kind of approach: early, active, designed
and scientifically controlled. |

physiatry, neurology, dermatology, psychology and other specialities

Opatija, special medical programs are available to its guests, such
as cardiology programs, programs for rheumatism, weight-watching
program, anti-stress programs, programss for osteoporosis, programs
for managers, etc. Room prices includes a free-of charge conslutation
with a doctor. |
